We seek ideas from nature for developing low-carbon biocomposite with biomass materials. Based on the diverse multi-scale structural engineering strategies, we focus on developing several types of biomass-based low-carbon biocomposites, including lightweight yet strong structural materials, biodegradable bioplastics and functional composite gels, and exploring their potential applications in construction, lightweight vehicles, aerospace, green packaging, sports, medical care and beyond.
